About this design
The Forest Trio Christmas Trees design is a small landscape rather than a single tree. A tall, two-tiered pine stands in the center with two shorter pines on either side, each with a short trunk, and all three rest on a long rounded bar that acts as the ground. Because the trees touch the bar, the whole scene is one connected shape.
The wide format makes it ideal as a border or a banner: along the bottom of a sign, across a mug, or as a header on a card.
Project ideas
- Mug wraps. A horizontal forest around the base of a mug in permanent vinyl.
- Sign borders. Run it along the bottom of a wood sign under a family name or a seasonal phrase.
- Card headers. Cut it from green cardstock and glue it across the top or bottom of a card.
- Shirt designs. Pair it with a location name for a cabin or ski trip.
- Window ledges. Cut it from wood or thick cardstock as a freestanding ledge decoration.
Color ideas
The default color version uses dark green trees with a pale blue ground, like trees on a snowy field. Other ideas:
- All white on navy for a snowy night
- Black on white or kraft for a classic silhouette
- Three shades of green, one per tree, layered over the ground
- Gold on dark green for an elegant card
Size and cutting tips
This design passes our cut checks from about 1.5 inches tall. Because it is wide, size it by width: 4 to 5 inches suits a mug, 8 to 10 inches a shirt, and 12 inches or more a sign.
The two small openings between the trunks and the ground bar are cut-outs; weed them before peeling away the rest of the vinyl.
Step by step: a wraparound mug
- Download the solid SVG and size it to fit the lower third of your mug, usually 4 to 5 inches wide.
- Cut it from permanent vinyl in dark green or white, depending on the mug color.
- Weed the two openings between the trunks and the ground bar first.
- Wipe the mug with rubbing alcohol and let it dry.
- Apply the forest with transfer tape, starting from the center tree and smoothing outward around the curve.
- Add a name or a cozy word above the trees if you like, and hand-wash the mug.
