Christmas wreath SVG files for doors, frames and monograms

A wreath is a ring of greenery, and it is also a frame. That second job is why wreath designs are so useful to crafters: put a name, a monogram, a year or a greeting inside, and a simple wreath becomes a personalized door hanger, shirt or card. Every wreath in this collection leaves a generous open center for exactly that.

The leaves, berries and bows are merged into each ring, so the solid file comes off the mat as one piece and stays perfectly round. Every design passed our automated checks for closed paths, tiny fragments, unweedable cut-outs and hairline details, and each page lists the smallest size that keeps every leaf at least a millimeter wide.

You get three styles for each wreath: a solid silhouette, a filled outline for a lighter look, and a color version with the ring, leaves, berries and bow on separate layers.

Styles in this collection

Classic greenery

Full, leafy rings for a traditional front-door look.

See the Classic Leaf Wreath with Bow, the Holly and Berry Wreath, the Pine Needle Wreath, the Bow-Top Wreath and the Berry Ring Wreath.

Modern and minimal

Slim hoops with a few leaves, eucalyptus and laurel, a crescent half-wreath: lighter wreaths with plenty of empty space for text.

See the Minimal Ring Wreath, the Open Laurel Wreath, the Crescent Half Wreath and the Eucalyptus Greenery Wreath.

Frames and shapes

Wreaths built as frames: a heart, a hexagon, a double ring, a scalloped edge, a monogram band and a ring of snowflakes.

Project ideas

  • Front door hangers. Cut from wood or foam board, painted, with a family name inside.
  • Monogram shirts. A wreath around an initial on a sweatshirt.
  • Christmas cards. A greeting inside a wreath on the card front.
  • Wedding and anniversary decor. A laurel or heart wreath around the couple’s initials and date.
  • Kitchen cabinet decals. Small wreaths on each cabinet door.
  • Pillow covers. A wreath with a short word in iron-on.
  • Tags and labels. A tiny wreath around a name on a jar or gift.

Choosing materials

Material Good styles Notes
Wood or foam board Classic, berry, scalloped, monogram Thick materials need sturdy rings and sizes of 10 in or more.
Adhesive vinyl All Weed leaf gaps before the outer waste.
Heat-transfer vinyl Classic, heart, minimal Mirror the design; center text before cutting.
Cardstock All Layer leaves and berries over a darker ring.
Felt Classic, berry, scalloped Bold shapes only; glue felt berries on top.

Sizes that work

Project Typical width
Tags, labels 2–3 in
Card fronts 4–5 in
Mugs 3–3.5 in
Shirts 8–10 in
Pillow covers 10–12 in
Door hangers 12–18 in

Colors for wreaths

Forest and leaf greens with red berries and bows are the defaults, and they never go out of style. Some alternatives worth trying in the customizer:

  • Gold ring with sage leaves for a soft, modern wreath
  • White and silver for a frosty, winter look
  • Navy and ice blue for the snowflake wreath
  • Blush and burgundy for weddings and anniversaries
  • Black for a minimal, single-color decal

Tips for wreaths with text

  • Center the text. Select the wreath and text together and align both centers.
  • Leave a margin. Keep text at least a quarter inch from the inside of the ring.
  • Attach or weld. Attach text that floats inside; weld text that touches the ring.
  • Use one font weight. Bold, simple fonts read better inside a busy wreath.
  • Check the license of your font. Our license covers the wreath; your font has its own terms.

Why wreaths are a winter tradition

Circles of evergreen branches have been used as winter decorations for a very long time, partly because evergreens stay green when other plants rest. The circle itself is often read as a symbol of continuity, with no beginning and no end. In many homes the wreath on the front door is the first decoration guests see, which is why so many of the designs here leave room for a family name or a greeting.

Choosing a wreath for text

If your project includes text, choose the wreath first and the font second:

  • Busy, leafy wreaths such as the Classic Leaf, Holly and Pine Needle wreaths look best with bold, simple fonts.
  • Light, modern wreaths such as the Minimal Ring, Laurel, Crescent and Eucalyptus wreaths suit thin serif and script fonts.
  • Frame wreaths such as the Monogram, Hexagon and Double Ring wreaths have clear inner edges, so they handle large initials and full names.

Building a door display

A door wreath looks finished with a few supporting pieces. Add a sideways candy cane under the family name, a pair of snowflakes on the side panels, or a small star above the door number. Keep the colors consistent, such as green, red and gold, so the separate pieces read as one design.

Wreaths beyond the door

Wreaths work at every scale: as a small seal on envelopes, a monogram on a mug, a frame for a photo on a card, or an embroidery pattern. Because each design is built as connected shapes around an open center, you can resize it from its listed smallest size (1.5 to 2.5 inches, depending on the wreath) up to a 3-foot wall decal without changing anything but the material.

Sizing a wreath for a door

Real wreaths and cut wreath signs follow the same rule of thumb: on a standard front door, a wreath roughly half to two-thirds of the door’s width looks balanced. For a typical 36-inch door that means a wreath of about 18 to 24 inches. Cut wreath signs are usually smaller, between 12 and 18 inches, because they are often hung at eye level with a name inside. Measure your door before you cut, and hold a paper template in place to check the size from the street.

Weatherproofing outdoor wreaths

If a cut wreath will hang outside, choose materials that can handle damp and cold: exterior plywood or acrylic rather than foam board, outdoor permanent vinyl rather than indoor vinyl, and an exterior clear coat over any paint. Hang it under a porch roof where possible, and bring it inside during heavy storms. A sealed wood wreath can be reused for many winters.

For indoor doors and walls, foam board and cardstock are perfectly fine, lighter to hang and easier to cut on a standard machine.

Whichever material you choose, test-hang the finished wreath for a day before a party, so you can adjust the ribbon length and height while there is still time.

Christmas Wreath SVG questions

Which wreath SVG is best for a monogram?

The Monogram Wreath Frame has a wide band and a large open center made for a letter or a name. The Minimal Ring Wreath, the Hexagon Frame Wreath and the Double Ring Wreath also leave plenty of room in the middle.

How do I add a name inside a wreath in Cricut Design Space?

Add your text, size it to fit inside the ring, then select the wreath and the text and use Align › Center to center them. Choose Attach so the text cuts in place, or Weld if the text touches the wreath and you want one cut piece.

Can I make a door hanger from these wreaths?

Yes. At 12 to 18 inches, cut the solid file from 1/8 inch wood on a laser cutter or scroll saw, or cut foam board by hand from a printed template (most cutting-machine mats stop just under 12 inches). Paint or layer it and add a ribbon at the top. Choose a design with a sturdy ring, such as the Classic Leaf Wreath with Bow or the Berry Ring Wreath.

Are the leaves separate pieces?

Almost never. On every wreath except one, the leaves, berries and bows are merged into the ring, so the solid file comes off the mat as a single piece. The Open Laurel Wreath is the exception: its two branches are separate pieces. In the color file they are separate layers you can cut from different colors.
