About this design
The Hanging Star Garland is a small festive scene: a curved swag line drapes across the top, and three stars hang from it on straight strings. The middle star hangs lowest and is the largest; the two outer stars are smaller and slightly higher, giving the design a gentle, balanced curve.
Because the strings join the stars to the swag, the whole garland is one connected piece. It works as a header, a border or a stand-alone motif.

Size and cutting tips
The strings are the thinnest part, so this design passes our cut checks from about 3 inches wide, and looks best from 5 inches up. Size it by width: 4 to 6 inches suits a card, 10 inches a shirt and 18 inches or more a wall.
When weeding vinyl, support the strings with your finger as you peel the waste away from the stars.
Step by step: a nursery wall decal
- Download the color SVG and size it to 24 inches wide.
- Cut the stars from soft gold removable vinyl and the swag and strings from pale gray.
- Weed the strings carefully, supporting them as you go.
- Apply transfer tape across the whole design so the stars stay at the right height.
- Place the decal above a crib or changing table, checking it is level.
- Burnish and peel the transfer tape slowly.
Good to know
Because the garland is one connected piece, it goes up in a single application with no measuring between stars.
A note on variations
You can ungroup the stars in your software and swap any of them for a snowflake or a heart, as long as you keep each string touching its shape. The swag and strings stay the same, so the garland still cuts in one piece.
