About this design
The Spiral Garland Christmas Tree suggests a tree rather than drawing one. A single thick line zigzags back and forth, each pass a little wider than the last, so the eye fills in the triangle of a tree. A five-point star floats above the top and a small rounded bar sits beneath as the base.
The result is airy and modern, perfect for minimal decor, line-art lovers and anyone who finds solid green trees a bit heavy. It cuts as three pieces: garland, star and base.
Project ideas
- Minimal holiday cards. Cut it in gold foil cardstock on a white card, nothing else.
- Glass and windows. White adhesive vinyl on a window gives a sketch-like tree that does not block much light.
- Tumblers. Wraps nicely around a slim tumbler in permanent vinyl.
- Wall decals. A large 24-inch version in removable vinyl makes a space-saving “tree” for small apartments.
- Pen or foil drawing. The outline version draws beautifully with a metallic pen tool.
Color ideas
The default color version uses green for the garland, gold for the star and brown for the base. Try:
- All gold on white or black for an elegant card
- White on a dark wall or chalkboard
- Red garland with a gold star for a playful look
- Black on kraft for a modern, monochrome tag
Size and cutting tips
The garland line is a comfortable width, so this design passes our cut checks from about 2 inches tall. Because the star and base are separate pieces, group all three in your cutting software before resizing, and use transfer tape to keep them aligned when applying vinyl.
For a single-piece version, you can draw a thin vertical line in your software to connect the star, garland and base before welding them together.
Step by step: a minimal gold card
- Download the solid SVG and size it to 4.5 inches tall for an A2 card.
- Cut it from gold foil cardstock; foil can tear on tight turns, so slow your machine down if you can.
- Score and fold a white card base.
- Lay the three pieces on the card first without glue, using a ruler to center them.
- Glue the garland, then the star above it and the base below, with a fine-tip glue pen.
- Write a short greeting inside, or emboss a single word along the bottom edge.
