About this design
If you only keep one snowflake in your craft library, make it this one. The Classic Six-Point Snowflake has the shape most people picture when they hear the word: six straight arms, a pair of long branches near the middle of each arm, a shorter pair closer to the tip, and a crisp diamond at the end. A small hexagon ties the arms together at the center.
The arms are thick enough to survive weeding but slim enough to look delicate, which makes this design a dependable all-rounder. Every part connects, so the whole flake lifts off the mat in one piece, with no floating bits to line up afterward.
Project ideas
- Holiday cards. Cut it from white glitter cardstock and mount it on a navy card front, or cut it out of the card front itself so the inside color shows through.
- Window clings. Three sizes, from 4 to 8 inches, cut from white static-cling vinyl make a quick frosted-window display.
- Sweatshirts. A single 9-inch flake in white iron-on on a heather gray crewneck is a winter classic.
- Gift wrap toppers. Cut 3-inch flakes from kraft cardstock and tie them onto brown-paper parcels with baker’s twine.
- Wood rounds. Use the solid file as a stencil or laser-engrave it onto birch slices for ornaments.
Color ideas
The two-tone color version pairs a deep blue base with an ice blue inner layer, which gives a frosty, slightly dimensional look. Try these combinations in the customizer:
- White base with a pale silver top layer for an elegant, monochrome finish
- Navy with gold for a festive, vintage card
- Red with white for a candy-cane mood
- Both layers white, cut from matte and glitter vinyl, for a subtle texture change
Size and cutting tips
This design stays clean down to about 2 inches wide, which makes it useful for tags and confetti as well as larger pieces. Above 6 inches the diamond tips become a strong graphic feature, so it holds up on signs and windows.
When weeding adhesive vinyl, start from the outer edge and peel toward the center so the branches stay supported. For the layered color version, cut the inner layer from a thinner material if you can; it sits neatly on top without adding much height.

The Tiny Crystal Snowflake makes a good small companion for scatter designs, and the Snowflake Window Bauble carries the same motif onto an ornament shape.
