About this design
The Trident Tip Snowflake trades fine detail for strong, confident lines. Each of the six thick arms splits into a three-pronged fork at the end, a bit like a trident, and carries a single pair of side branches about halfway along. A round disc sits at the center where the arms meet.
The result is graphic and modern, closer to a winter logo than a lace doily. Because the strokes are wide and the ends are rounded, it is one of the most forgiving snowflakes in the collection to cut and weed.
Project ideas
- Family pajama shirts. A 7 to 9 inch flake in white iron-on looks sharp on red or green sleepwear tees.
- Beanies and mittens. Small 2-inch flakes in heat-transfer vinyl add a quick winter touch to knitwear patches.
- Mugs and tumblers. Use permanent vinyl in silver or white; the bold arms wrap around a curved surface well.
- Ski trip gear. Pair it with a destination name for a group trip shirt.
- Felt garlands. Cut a dozen from stiff felt and string them along a mantel.
Color ideas
The default color version uses navy with a pale blue inner layer, which reads like a stitched patch. Other combinations worth trying:
- White with pale gray for a snowy, low-contrast look on dark shirts
- Red with white for a cheerful, candy-colored version
- Black with silver for a crisp, modern style
- Single-color silver glitter iron-on for a sparkly beanie patch
Size and cutting tips
Thanks to its wide strokes, this design stays clean from about 2 inches wide, which makes it a good choice for small heat-transfer projects where fine detail tends to lift. For glitter or holographic iron-on, which is thicker than standard vinyl, it is one of the best snowflakes in the library.
When pressing iron-on, use a firm press and peel according to your vinyl’s instructions; the forked tips are the last part to adhere, so give them an extra second of heat if they lift.
Step by step: a family pajama shirt
- Download the solid SVG and size it to 8 inches for adults or 5 inches for children.
- Mirror the design and cut it from white iron-on, shiny side down.
- Weed the waste, starting at a forked tip and peeling toward the center.
- Pre-press the shirt for a few seconds to remove moisture, then press the snowflake centered a hand’s width below the collar.
- Repeat in a different color for each family member so the shirts match but stay easy to tell apart.
