About this design
Where the Fern Branch Snowflake spreads its branches wide, the Feathered Snowflake sweeps them back. Seven pairs of short branches line each arm at a tight angle, so every arm looks like a feather or a sprig of evergreen. Small round tips finish the arms, and a compact hexagon holds the center.
The tight angle gives the design a sleek, streamlined silhouette. It feels refined and a little formal, perfect for elegant cards, frosted glassware and anywhere you want detail without a busy outline.
Project ideas
- Wine glasses and champagne flutes. Small 2.5-inch flakes in white vinyl make an instant holiday glass set (hand-wash only).
- Elegant invitations. Cut it into the front of a navy card and back it with silver paper.
- Table runners. Iron white flakes down the length of a navy or gray runner.
- Lantern panels. Apply etched-glass vinyl to a glass lantern for a soft frosted silhouette when lit.
- Laser-engraved coasters. The fine branches engrave beautifully on slate or wood.
Color ideas
The default navy and ice blue suits a classic winter theme. For more formal settings:
- Silver and white for a frosted, wedding-style look
- Deep green and gold for an evergreen-inspired card
- Black and champagne for a New Year’s Eve party
- All white in matte and shimmer finishes for minimal decor
Size and cutting tips
The feather branches sit close together, so this design needs about 3 inches to cut cleanly and looks best from 4 inches upward. On cardstock, use your machine’s setting for intricate cuts and a strong-grip mat to stop the branches shifting.
Weed vinyl slowly, pulling the waste parallel to the arms rather than across them. Each branch is then supported by its neighbors as the vinyl lifts away.
Step by step: a frosted lantern panel
- Measure the glass panel of your lantern and size the solid SVG to about two-thirds of its width.
- Cut the design from etched-glass (frosted) adhesive vinyl.
- Weed the waste slowly, pulling parallel to the arms so the feathered branches stay down.
- Apply transfer tape, burnish it well, and peel the backing at a sharp angle.
- Clean the glass with rubbing alcohol, let it dry, then place the snowflake from the center outward and burnish again.
- Peel the transfer tape back flat against the glass so no branch lifts with it.

The Fern Branch Snowflake is its natural partner, and the Pine Sprig Snowflake brings the same evergreen feel in a bolder form.
