About this design
The Chunky Candy Cane is the bold, kid-friendly cane in the collection. The cane itself is much thicker than the classic, the hook is big and round, and the stripes are wide. Nothing about it is delicate, which makes it ideal for thick materials and small hands.
It reads clearly from across a room and looks great on children’s clothing and classroom decorations.

Size and cutting tips
This cane passes our cut checks from about 1.5 inches tall and handles almost any material. For felt, cut the cane and the stripes separately and glue the stripes on top.
For children cutting with scissors, print the outline version large on cardstock as a template.
Step by step: classroom door decorations
- Download the solid SVG and size it to 12 inches tall.
- Cut a batch from red poster board or foam sheets.
- Cut white stripes from the color file’s stripe layer in white paper, or let children paint them on.
- Write each child’s name on a cane.
- Arrange the canes around the classroom door like a frame.
- Add a banner across the top with the class name.
Good to know
The thick shape survives little hands, sticky tape and repeated handling, which makes it the most practical cane in the collection for classroom and group crafts.
Variations to try
- Use glitter foam for sparkle.
- Make a giant 24-inch version from foam board for a porch.
- Cut a set in rainbow colors for a kids’ party.
A note on safety
For very young children, use foam or felt rather than cardstock, since foam has no sharp edges and does not crease when little hands squeeze it. Supervise any glitter crafts closely, and choose washable glue so stray drips come out of clothes and tables without trouble.
