About this design
The Zigzag Band Bauble brings a bit of retro fun to the classic ball. A bold zigzag line runs across the middle of the ornament, splitting it into an upper and a lower half. In the color version, the zigzag is filled with white, like hand-painted decoration on a vintage bauble or the edge of a Christmas sweater pattern.
It is cheerful and graphic, and the two pieces make it easy to layer in contrasting colors.

Size and cutting tips
This design passes our cut checks from about 2 inches tall. The zigzag points are sharp, so cut slowly in glitter cardstock. Keep the two halves grouped while resizing and applying.
For a single-piece bauble, weld the two halves together in your software before cutting.
Step by step: an ugly sweater party shirt
- Download the color SVG and size it to 4 inches tall.
- In your cutting software, duplicate it twice so three baubles sit in a row, and give each copy a different body color. (The customizer sets one color scheme per download.)
- Cut the bodies, zigzag bands and caps from iron-on in matching colors.
- Press the bodies first in a row across the chest of a sweatshirt.
- Add the white zigzag bands and the gold caps, pressing under a pressing sheet.
- Finish with a garland line above the ornaments in a thin strip of vinyl.
Good to know
Zigzags are a classic Christmas sweater motif, so this ornament fits right in with knit-look designs and party outfits.
Variations to try
- Fill the band with glitter iron-on for a sparkly stripe.
- Turn the bauble on its side and use it as a round, retro badge.
- Cut a set of six in rainbow colors for a kids’ party garland.
