About this design
The Classic Round Christmas Bauble is the ornament shape everyone knows: a big round ball, a short rectangular cap and a round loop for the hook or ribbon. The solid file is a single clean piece, and the color version adds a gold cap and a small crescent-shaped shine near the top left, the little highlight that makes a flat circle look like shiny glass.
Its plain body is its biggest strength. It is the perfect canvas for a name, a monogram, a year, a photo or a pattern of your own.
Project ideas
- Personalized ornaments. Add a name across the body and laser-engrave or vinyl it.
- Gift tags. Cut bauble-shaped tags and write names on them.
- Coloring sheets. Print the outline version for kids to design their own ornament.
- Shirts. A row of three baubles in different colors on a sweatshirt.
- Photo ornaments. Cut a circle out of the body and place a photo behind it.
Color ideas
The default color version is red with a gold cap and a white shine. Other ideas:
- Green with a silver cap for a classic tree
- Navy with a gold cap for an elegant look
- Blush with a rose-gold cap for a modern palette
- White with a gold cap, personalized in gold
Size and cutting tips
This bauble passes our cut checks from about 2 inches tall. For tree ornaments, 3 to 4 inches is the usual size. If you add text, keep letters at least a quarter inch tall when cutting vinyl so they weed cleanly.
The hanging loop is a small cut-out; punch or weed it before lifting the ornament from the mat.
Step by step: a personalized wood ornament
- Download the solid SVG and size it to 3.5 inches tall.
- Add a name in a clear font across the middle of the ball, sized so the letters are at least a quarter inch tall.
- Set the name to engrave and the outline to cut on your laser, then run a test on scrap wood.
- Cut the ornament from 3 mm basswood or plywood.
- Paint the ball red and the cap gold, or stain the whole piece for a natural look.
- Seal it with a clear spray and thread a ribbon through the loop.
Good to know
A plain body is the most flexible starting point in the collection: the same file can become a name ornament, a photo frame, a coloring page or a set of matching gift tags, simply by what you put in the middle.
