About this design

The Round Badge Christmas Tree puts a classic three-tier tree inside a thick circular frame. The tree stands on a short horizontal bar that spans the lower part of the circle, with a small trunk joining them. The frame turns the tree into a badge, a seal or a round ornament.

Circles are one of the most useful shapes for crafters: they fit coasters, jar lids, round ornaments, wood slices and stickers. This design is ready-made for all of them.

Project ideas

  • Round ornaments. Laser-cut it from wood or acrylic, or layer cardstock onto a round blank.
  • Coasters. Engrave it onto cork, slate or wood coasters for a holiday set.
  • Jar lid toppers. Cut it from adhesive vinyl for homemade cookie or jam jars.
  • Gift tags and stickers. A 2-inch badge makes a tidy sticker or a seal on an envelope.
  • Business-style stamps. Use it as a seasonal stamp design for your own handmade packaging.

Color ideas

The default color version has a green tree, a brown trunk and a red ring. Ideas for other looks:

  • Gold ring with a dark green tree for an elegant seal
  • White on kraft for rustic tags
  • Navy ring with a white tree for a wintry badge
  • Single-color black for engraving and stamps

Size and cutting tips

This design passes our cut checks from about 1.5 inches wide, which is small enough for seals and stickers. The spaces between the tree and the ring are cut-outs, so weed them before the outer waste.

For round wood slices, measure the slice and size the design half an inch smaller, so the ring sits inside the bark edge.

Step by step: engraved cork coasters

  1. Measure your round cork coasters; most are 4 inches.
  2. Size the solid SVG to half an inch smaller than the coaster.
  3. Run a test engrave on a scrap of cork to find a power and speed that marks without burning through.
  4. Place each coaster in the same spot on the laser bed using a simple cardboard jig.
  5. Engrave the badge, then wipe away any residue with a dry cloth.
  6. Stack four or six coasters and tie them with twine for a ready-made gift set.

Good to know

The circle frame makes this design forgiving to place by eye: round items such as lids and coasters line up naturally.

The Star in a Ring Ornament and the Tree Cut-Out Disc Ornament share the round, framed format.
