About this design

The Ring of Stars Wreath arranges twelve stars around a circle, alternating large and small, each rotated to follow the curve. A slim ring runs through them all, so the wreath is one connected piece with a wide open center.

It is part star design, part wreath: a sparkling frame that suits a monogram, a family name, a year or a photo, and it looks equally at home at New Year’s.

Project ideas

  • Monogram frames. Add a single initial in the center for a door hanger.
  • New Year’s signs. Put the year in the center.
  • Photo ornaments. Place a round photo behind the ring.
  • Shirts. A star wreath around a name for a family set.
  • Wedding decor. A gold star ring around the couple’s initials.

Color ideas

The default color version uses gold stars with a green ring. Other ideas:

  • All gold for a celebratory frame
  • Silver stars with a navy ring for a wintry night
  • White stars on a red ring for a festive look
  • Rainbow stars for a child’s room

Size and cutting tips

The small stars and the slim ring need room, so this design passes our cut checks from about 4.5 inches wide. For text in the center, 6 inches or more gives plenty of space.

Weed vinyl from the outside in, supporting each star as the waste lifts away.

Step by step: a monogram door hanger

  1. Download the solid SVG and size it to 14 inches.
  2. Cut it from 1/4-inch foam board or 3 mm plywood.
  3. Paint it gold and let it dry.
  4. Cut a large initial from wood or foam board, sized to fill about two-thirds of the center.
  5. Paint the initial in a contrasting color and glue it to the ring at its top and bottom.
  6. Tie a wide ribbon around the top of the ring to hang it on the door.

Good to know

The alternating large and small stars give the ring a sense of rhythm, so it looks lively even in a single color.

A note on construction

Each of the twelve stars is rotated to follow the circle, so their points always face outward. That small detail is what keeps the wreath looking balanced from every angle, even when you hang it slightly crooked on a door.

Pairs well with

The Monogram Wreath Frame offers a leafy alternative frame, and the Star Cut-Out Christmas Star continues the many-stars theme.
