About this design
The Heart Christmas Ornament is made for keepsakes. A full, rounded heart has a smaller heart cut out of its center, with an ornament cap and hanging loop at the top dip of the heart. In the color version, a pink heart fills the opening, like an inlay.
The open center can frame a tiny photo, an initial or a date, which is why this shape is so popular for baby’s first Christmas, couples’ first Christmas together and memorial ornaments.

Color ideas
The default color version is red with a gold cap and a pink inner heart. Other ideas:

Size and cutting tips
This ornament passes our cut checks from about 1.5 inches tall, small enough for earrings and tags. For tree ornaments, 3 to 4 inches gives plenty of room in the center.
For a photo ornament, cut two copies: one solid back and one with the opening, and sandwich the photo between them.
Step by step: a memorial photo ornament
- Download the solid SVG and size it to 4 inches tall.
- Cut two copies from white cardstock or 3 mm wood.
- Trim a small photo to a heart slightly larger than the center opening.
- Glue the photo behind the opening of the front heart.
- Glue the second heart to the back, sandwiching a ribbon loop at the cap.
- Write the name and dates on the back with a fine permanent pen.
Good to know
Heart ornaments are often given in memory of loved ones; keep the front simple and let the photo or name speak for itself.
Variations to try
- Fill the center with red acrylic for a solid two-tone heart.
- Engrave a short date across the bottom point of the heart.
- Make matching earrings at 1.5 inches in red and gold.
